Kanpur court convicts six in a 2016 dacoity case

KANPUR: Additional district sessions judge Nityanand Srinet convicted six persons for committee dacoity and sentenced them with different terms of sentences and slapped fine on Wednesday.
The sentenced persons were Sachin Costa, Dinesh Kushwaha, Raghvendra, Karunendra Singh Chauhan, Mangal Singh and Yogesh Parihar, who is absconding. The judicial officer held him guilty and issued a warrant and attachment of property process against him.

According to additional district government counsel, Pradyumn Awasthi, the presiding officer punished Sachin, Dinesh, Raghvendra and Karunendra with 10 years rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 85,000 each.
The judicial officer punished Mangal for criminal conspiracy and keeping loot with him, for seven years rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine to the tune of Rs 35,000.
The additional district government counsel stated that all accused had raided the house of one Mahendra Singh, a resident of Nazeerabad locality around 11 p.m. on July 1, 2016. They thrashed Mahendra Singh, his wife Gurmeet Kaur,and son Karamjeet and looted valuables including ornaments worth several lakhs. The police had arrested Mangal Singh, his son Raghvendra, resident of Kalpi town, Dinesh Kushwaha of Jhansi, Sachin Costa, Yogesh Parihar and Karunendra Singh Chauhan of Orai.
