Bullet-riddled body of youth found

KANPUR: The bullet-riddled body of a 21-year-old youth, who was missing from Maholi village under the Maharajpur police station for the past two days, was recovered from an isolated house in the village on Thursday. On being informed, the police rushed to the spot and conducted preliminary investigations. The police recovered a mouser pistol with two cartridges stuck inside it and a few bottles of liquor from the site of the incident.
According to reports, the police identified the victim as Shiv Kumar, son of Vijay Karan Singh, a resident of Maholi village.He had been shot in the head.
The police suspect it to be the handiwork of two villagers who had recently made a land deal with him. They had reportedly gave the victim a security deposit following the land deal. The police, however, refused to divulge their names.
Shiv Kumar was whisked away from his home few days ago by some unidentified persons. The police came across the two suspects following clues provided by the kin of the victim. Initially, the police had claimed that the victim had committed suicide.
Mishap: A 22-year-old youth was killed in a road mishap under the Narwal police station here on late Wednesday night. According to reports, the police identified the dead as Sunil Kumar, son of Ram Kumar, a resident of Kuchuwara in Fatehpur district. He had gone to attend his friend Phool Singh Yadav's sister's wedding in Naugawa village, where he was run over by a vehicle. He died on the spot.
Similarly, an 83-year-old man was killed after being hit by a vehicle under the Maharajpur police station here on Wednesday. According to reports, the police identified the victim as Surya Prakash Shukla, a resident of Maholi. He was on his way to purchase medicines from a nearby shop on a bicycle when he was hit by the vehicle. He also died on the spot.
