KANPUR: Budhwa Mangal was observed in a festive atmosphere on Tuesday. Devotees thronged various Hanuman temples to seek blessings. Akhand (non-stop) Ramayan and Sundarkand Paath were held in many temples.
Business houses, NGOs, temple societies and other devotees organised 'bhandaras' (community feasts). 'Poori bhaji' and 'boondi' were distributed as prasad to passers-by.
Devotees queued up outside temples and waited for hours to seek blessings of Lord Hunuman.
A long queue was seen at Panki temple since 2 am. The temple priests said that three lakh devotees visited this year. Crowds were also seen at Dakshineshwar Hanuman Temple on GT Road and Sote Baba Hanuman Temple in Kidwainagar. Both temples were beautifully decorated.
Hanuman temple in Swaroopnagar was beautifully decorated and charmed the devotees.
Hanuman Temple at Moti Jheel crossing and other temples had made arrangements to meet the heavy rush of devotees. The Pawan Dham Dev Lok temple was decorated with flowers and lights. Akhand Ramayan was held there. Hanuman Chalisa was also recited.
Hundreds of devotees took blessings of the faithful servant of Lord Ram and partook prasad at railway station, bus stand, Bhagwatdas Ghat, Naveen Market and Vijaynagar.
