Brahmin Mahasabha president booked under SC/ST Act

Kanpur: The Kanpur Dehat police have booked the president of Main Hoon Brahmin Mahasabha - Durgesh Mani Tripathi under the SC/ST Act, and IPC sections including assault and criminal intimidation.Additional superintendent of police Kanpur Dehat Ghanshyam has confirmed the registration of an FIR against Durgesh Mani Tripathi.Meanwhile, the president of Brahmin Mahasabha said that the maximum plight and atrocities against Brahmins are happening in the time of the present Bharatiya Janata Party government.“And now, the police have booked a case against me at the behest of the ruling party minister whom I opposed as they did nothing in favour of the Brahmins, particularly the victims of the Kanpur Dehat incident,” said Durgesh Mani Tripathi while talking to the reporters.The ASP further said, “An FIR has been registered against Durgesh Mani Tripathi under the relevant IPC sections including assault and criminal intimidation and SC/ST Act at the Akbarpur police station on the complaint of Zila Panchayat member -Krishna Gautam, who had come to the Akbarpur police station along with the minister Pratibha Shukla on Saturday night.” He further said that the woman had alleged in her complaint that the president of the Brahmin Mahasabha assaulted her outside the postmortem house.“The matter is being investigated by registering an FIR on her complaint,” said the ASP further.However, Durgesh Mani Tripathi, denying the charges, told the reporters that charges levelled by Gautam are false.“It was me, who was manhandled outside the mortuary after the incident, and I have given a complaint to the senior police officials including the SP and the ADG for registering an FIR. However, none paid heed to the complaint. After the killing of innocent Brahmin people, now on the contrary, an FIR has also been registered against another Brahmin (Durgesh Mani Tripathi),” he said.Tripathi further said that the Brahmins are rampantly being tortured in the reign of the ruling government.“However, I am not afraid or in awe of being booked. I will continue to help the sad and distressed Brahmins in the same way,” he said and added that he has appealed to Brahmin leaders across the state for help and soon he along with his supporters will go to Kanpur Dehat and give his arrest.On Monday night, the minister Pratibha Shukla along with her husband and their supporters, including Bara Zila Panchayat member Krishna Gautam, had reached the postmortem house. They were trying to pacify the victims’ aggrieved family that had refused to let the police conduct a postmortem, when Durgeshmani Tripathi, president of the Main Hoon Brahmin Mahasabha, reached the spot along with his supporters.When Tripathi allegedly made some comments against the minister after some arguments, Gautam allegedly started abusing him and later manhandled him.
