Kanpur: Body of a jeweller was found under suspicious circumstances on the roadside near Alinagar bypass in the Tirwa Kotwali area late Sunday night. Police reached the spot upon receiving information and sent the body to the mortuary of the Rajkiya medical college.
The deceased was identified as
Manoj Yadav (40), a resident of Subhash Nagar in the town, who ran a jewellery shop in Umrah Purwa village. Late Sunday evening, he had closed his shop and was returning home on his bike. Meanwhile, police received information about a body lying on the roadside near the Alinagar underpass. Police reached the spot, sent the body to the mortuary and informed the family.
Upon hearing the news of the death, the family members were thrown into grief. The deceased’s elder brother Pintu has submitted a written complaint to the police, expressing suspicion of murder. He has alleged that there is a wound on Manoj’s neck caused by a sharp wire.
Additionally, there is also a wound on the back of the head from a sharp weapon attack, which has deepened the suspicion of murder.
Inspector Kotwali Ajay Shukla said that an investigation has been initiated on the basis of the written complaint. The body is being sent for post-mortem examination, and the exact cause of death will be revealed only after the report is received. All aspects are being investigated.
