BA student falls from Kanpur hotel, dies

Kanpur: A BA student lost his life after falling from a hotel in Kanpur. The victim, identified as Shiv Gautam, 22, a student at Sahdev Prasad College, Ramaipur, resided in Khadepur under the Naubasta police station area. The incident, which had taken place in the Harbansh Mohal police station area, sparked outrage among family members.
According to family sources, on April 24, two companions escorted Shiv from his residence to a hotel in the Harbansh Mohal area. The family alleges that after intoxicating him with alcohol, the companions pushed him from the first floor. The hotel staff transported him to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning. Narendra Kumar Gautam, the deceased's father, has filed a report against the two companions.
SP (East) Shrawan Kumar Singh said the police are investigating the murder allegations against the two companions and are currently examining the CCTV recordings. "The body has been despatched for a post-mortem examination," the official said. tnn
