KANPUR: Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik on Wednesday said that everyone has freedom of speech and expression. He was speaking in context of the authors giving away their Sahitya awards and after Shiv Sainiks protested in Mumbai and blackened the face of former top diplomat Sudheendra Kulkarni.
He said that authors are to decide what is right or wrong, whether they should give away awards or retain them.
Answering to a question whether help of Rs 45 lakhs to the victims of Dadri lynching incident is right or wrong on the part of the state government, Naik said that government has to help people who become victims of a crime incident and such a help should be given to all those who are sufferers.
He said that the situations of the affected families should be taken into consideration while rendering assistance. All the sufferers are at par in terms of help from the government, he said.
Naik had come to take part in a national seminar on Ancient Indian Science and Technology at IIT Kanpur.
