Anganwadi centres should provide more facilities: Guv

Kanpur: Governor Anandi Ben Patel said that women besides performing domestic duties discharge their responsibilities in public life with honesty, devotion and dedication, and the role played by Anganwadi workers should be seen in this context.The governor was speaking at a training programme organized for the Anganwadi workers here on Friday. “We have started a campaign across the country to link universities and Anganwadi centres so that these centres can play their role more effectively. I am happy that we seem to be successful in this initiative”, she said. The governor said that in the past due to ignorance the people did not know about the development process of children, but new technology has made the people aware about the useful things needed for the mental and physical development of children. Earlier, the governor had inaugurated the kit distribution and training programme to make 100 Anganwadi centres of Kanpur Dehat and 60 centres of Kanpur city fully equipped with facilities.Citing the experiences of her Germany trip, she said that the buildings of Anganwadi centres should be constructed as per the convenience of children. CSR funds, she said, should be used to make Anganwadi centres equipped with maximum facilities. Addressing the Anganwadi workers, she said the future of children is in your hands and it is your responsibility to discharge your role with full dedication.Minister for child development and nutrition Pratibha Shukla in her address suggested developing Anganwadi centres as pre nursery centres.A cheque of Rs 5000 was distributed to Anganwadi workers and Rs 2500 to assistant Anganwadi workers on the occasion. The governor also released a book on a survey conducted by the university students which depicts the changes in behaviour and efficiency of children after getting the kit.

Anganwadi workers protest in Dehradun

Anganwadi workers in Dehradun held a protest rally to address their demands, but were met with resistance from the police. A representative from the CM's office assured the workers of government support, but the protest will continue until they meet with the CM. The workers have outlined six key concerns, including a monthly basic salary of Rs 18,000. In other news, anganwadi workers in Vijayawada were arrested for organizing a protest, while workers in Bhubaneswar demanded government recognition and a pay hike. A public library in Ahmedabad will be converted into an anganwadi.

Anganwadi workers stir for service benefits

Anganwadi workers in Bhubaneswar rallied near the state assembly demanding government recognition and a pay increase. They feel that despite their hard work on various government projects, they are not recognized as government servants and their salaries have not been increasing. The workers are demanding a monthly salary of Rs 18,000 and Rs 9,000 for helpers until their recognition as government servants. Police arrest anganwadi workers, foil rally in Vij

Tension erupted in Vijayawada as anganwadi workers were arrested while protesting for a pay increase.
