Ananya, Vidit win boys and girls selection trial chess championship

Kanpur: Ananya Srivastava and Vidit Srivastava won the boys and girls title of Under-19 selection trial chess championship held at Virendra Swarup Education Centre, H-2 block Kidwai Nagar. In all 43 players, including 9 girls participated in the event. Ananya earned 5 points from five rounds while Vidit collected 4.5 points. Siddharth Rathore emerged as the winner of the Under-15 group. Ananya Mishra grabbed first place in the girls group. Chief arbiter Kusum Sharma and observer Alok Gupta gave away the trophy and certificates to the players.According to Dilip Srivastava, secretary, Kanpur Chess Association, Ananya Srivastava, Manniya Agarwal and Vidit Srivastava and Arihant Barolia will represent the Kanpur team in the state-level championship to be held in Varanasi from May 18 to May 20. Ananya Mishra, Ashwini Umrao, Siddharth Rathore and Parth Baweja are the reserved players. TNN
