Alumni meet held in BU as part of golden jubilee celebration

Jhansi: Around 350 alumni, some as old as 40 years old pass outs gathered at Bundelkhand University on the occasion of an alumni meet held in the university campus here on Saturday. The meet was a part of the year-long golden jubilee celebration of the university.The day-long events included faculty visit, cultural programmes and a felicitation ceremony held in the Gandhi auditorium.The chief guest of the meet was Jhansi-Lalitpur MP Anurag Sharma who is also an alumnus of the university. Recalling his college days, Anurag Sharma said that the university worked under a shoestring budget in those days but in this long tenure with the contribution of successive vice-chancellors it has achieved a milestone while itching its name among the top universities of the country. He particularly mentioned the current vice-chancellor Prof Mukesh Pandey while appreciating his efforts in enhancing the university to the next level."Bundelkhand is now marching ahead on the road of speedy development and growth. The BIDA and Defence Corridor will be a game changer. Rise incubation centre is yet another milestone to encourage young entrepreneurs. Bundelkhand University plays an important role to develop young minds into entrepreneurs", Sharma said.On the other hand, vice-chancellor Mukesh Pandey gave details about the outstanding achievements done by the university in the past few years including acquiring of prestigious NAAC A++ accreditation. He further said that the name of family and institution always gets associated with a person for lifetime.A series of cultural programmes including music, dance and singing further enhanced the mood of the guests in which some of the old students also participated.
