AICF to register 6L chess players in next two years
Kanpur: All India Chess Federation (AICF) is hoping to register and nurture as many as 6 lakh chess players of the country in the next two years, said AICF president Sanjay Kapoor while addressing the members on the first day of the annual general meeting.He said that AICF besides starting a coaching program in each state would also train the school teachers and provide them chess program to encourage the game of 64 square board and its players.During the meeting and the program presentation, Sanjay Kapoor said that AICF would pay special attention to those member-states which could not give best performance. The representatives (officials) of 32 state member units, including Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Kerala, Jammu & Kashmir and Assam attended the meeting held on the opening day and presented their achievements and programs of their states through PPT. During the PPT presentation, Ajit Kumar Verma (chairman chess- in-school program of AICF, Bharat Singh (deputy president Asian Chess Federation), Vipanesh, secretary AICF, Bhavesh Patel (vice-president) and Naresh Sharma, treasurer were present. AK Raizada, secretary, UP Chess Sports Association praised the PPT presentation of various states and presented UP's progress in chess.The primary objective of the meeting was to hold an open discussion on the key issues and challenges confronting the state associations. This collaborative platform provided an opportunity for representatives to share their valuable insights and experiences, enabling a comprehensive understanding of the diverse hurdles faced at the regional level. During the discussions, attention was focused on devising effective strategies to bolster the development of chess nationwide. The participants actively highlighted the unique challenges encountered by their respective state associations, encompassing areas such as infrastructure, funding, player development, and organizational support.In line with AICF's commitment to progress and excellence, the meeting concluded with a pledge to implement precise measures to tackle the identified challenges head-on. AICF aims to create a more robust and inclusive chess ecosystem, ultimately propelling Indian chess to greater heights on the global stage, Kapoor stated.The All India Chess Federation is set to hold its annual general body meeting on Sunday in Kanpur, marking a pivotal moment for the Indian chess community.
