Kanpur: Agra in its inaugural match outplayed Aligarh by 6-0 in UP state inter-divisional senior women football championship being contested at Green Park Stadium on Sunday.
The match was one-sided with Agra dominating the proceedings from first to last whistle. Azamgarh in another fixture drubbed Chitrakoot by 5-0. Meerut in the third encounter of the day humbled Devi Patan by 4-0.
Lucknow and Gorakhpur in the inaugural match of the championship shared points as their match concluded in a draw.
Earlier, MLA Ghatampur, Saroj Kureel, inaugurated the tournament in which all 18 division teams of the state are participating. In her address to the players, she emphasised that central as well as State government were providing numerous facilities to the players.
Vijay Kumar, regional sports officer, welcomed the chief guest. Sunil Tiwari, general secretary UP Volleyball Association, Anand Bhadoria, chairman Sriram Group, Manoj Chaturvedi, president District Football Association were present on this occasion.
