Advocates abstain from judicial work

Kanpur: Advocates in Kanpur Nagar district court abstained from judicial work on Friday to lodge their protest against the working style of the district judge. They will resume judicial work from Tuesday as the courts remain closed from Saturday to Monday.According to Ravindra Sharma, president of the Lawyers Association, the court will remain closed on Saturday due to the second Saturday, Sunday being a holiday and Ganga Mela on Monday. Normal working of courts will start from Tuesday.Notice: Kanpur Bar Association has served notice to its 16 advocate-members who were found working in courts despite strike call. According to Naresh Chandra Tripathi and Anurag Srivastava, president and general secretary respectively of Kanpur Bar Association, the KBA had organized a Holi Milan function on March 6 in which as per custom, judicial officials were too invited but they did not come.To lodge advocates’ protest, the two associations had decided to abstain from judicial work on March 9 and March 10 but 16 advocates violated the KBA’s directives and took part in the judicial proceedings. The KBA thereafter issued a show cause notice asking them to reply within three days otherwise disciplinary action would be taken against them.The advocates who were served notices are Pratyush Mani Mishra, Awadhesh Pandey, Taj Mohd, Anil Nigam, Saif Mohd, Hema Pandey, Nitish Mishra, VK Rajput, Ashutosh Mishra, Ashish Trivedi, Rajesh Arya, Rajesh Tripathi, Ajmal Ansari, Abhishek and Mohit.Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with EID Wishes, Messages and quotes !
