Admit card glitches worry students during UP Board examinations

Kanpur: Technical glitches in admit cards surfaced during the ongoing examinations conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, creating anxiety among students from several unaided colleges in the district. The offline control room set up at Government Inter College, Chunniganj, received multiple complaints regarding discrepancies in subjects mentioned on admit cards.According to students, several candidates who studied Mathematics throughout the academic session found Biology mentioned as their subject on the admit card. Similarly, some girl students who had prepared for Home Science were surprised to see Mathematics printed on their hall tickets.
The UP Board examinations began on February 18, and most of the discrepancies were reported from unaided colleges. In a written complaint, a girl student of Uday Bharti Inter College said that despite studying Mathematics during the entire session, her admit card listed Biology as her subject. Officials at the control room confirmed receiving similar complaints involving different subject mismatches on a regular basis. Education department authorities said the Board had provided multiple opportunities to schools to correct details in examination forms before final submission, but some colleges allegedly failed to make the necessary corrections, resulting in problems for students. Sources said many affected institutions submitted forms through contractual arrangements, and discrepancies in such cases also led to complications, including the possibility of results being withheld.District Inspector of Schools Santosh Kumar Rai advised students facing such glitches to submit a written application to their respective centre superintendent, clearly mentioning the subject they studied during the academic session. He said students would still be allowed to appear in the examination and would later have to fill out a prescribed correction form issued by the Board. He added that efforts would be made to ensure the academic year of affected students is not impacted.
