70-year-old prof found dead in his flat in Bithoor
Kanpur: A 70-year-old associate professor of a private medical college in Bithoor police area was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his flat on Saturday evening.The police identified the deceased as Prem Sahni, a native of Chandigarh, posted at the radiology department at Rama Medical College in Mandhana area of the city. He was found dead in the evening in his apartment on the hospital premises. Police initiated an investigation.The incident came to light when an attendant informed the medical college administration that Sahni was lying in his flat and froth was flowing from his mouth. The college administration alerted the police.College security officer Santosh Singh said the attendant had gone to the professor’s flat. “When he rang the doorbell, there was no response for a long time, so he pushed open the door and found the professor lying on the bed, froth flowing out of his mouth,” he said.Inspector Bithoor Atul Kumar Singh said, “His family members have been informed. Investigations are underway, but the reason behind his death will be clear only with the postmortem report. Sahni had joined Rama Medical College in July 2023. As per the college staff, he had appeared stressed for the last few days.”
