KANPUR: A local court here has sentenced seven members of a family to life imprisonment for murdering a person over a minor dispute 17 years ago.
The Fast Track court-6 on Thursday awarded life sentences to the seven members of the same family, who were found guilty of murdering a person on March 30, 1992.
According to the prosecution, the convicts attacked family of one Sukhvir Singh of Tatia village under Chakeri police station when they were working on their field.
Armed with sticks and country made pistols, the convicts, identified as Ram Shanker, Chandan, Rakesh Lakhan, Ramesh Subedar and Ajai, shot at Buddhu Lal, grandfather of Sukhvir, who was later died in hospital.
The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on each of the convict.
