5 rescued after rise in Betwa’s water level
Jhansi: Five people who got trapped after the sudden rise in the water level of River Betwa were rescued on Monday morning by the police team with the help of locals, reports Arindam Ghosh. The incident was reported from Sojna Ghat in the Moth area of the district where all the five people who are in their twenties were trapped in an island in the middle of the river. All of them were labourers engaged in sand mining from the river bed. They used to stay in the island itself as the water level of the river was quite low. One of the trapped victims called for help to police on Dial 112 after which senior officials along with the rescue team arrived at the spot. With the help of a speed boat, all the five persons were brought back safely.
