NOTA
(none of the above), a ballot option that allows voters to officially register their votes of rejection for all candidates in the fight, performed better than 46 candidates out of the total 93 contested from 10 assembly constituencies in the Industrial City.
Polling for the third phase of elections, conducted in Kanpur on February 20, recorded 57.08 percent of voting. However, there were 46 candidates who could not even secure votes more than NOTA (None of the Above).
In total, seven candidates in
Maharajpur Assembly
secured votes less than NOTA while in Cantt seven candidates secured votes less than NOTA used by 740. A total of 11,165 voters used NOTA in 10 assembly seats of Kanpur.
A total of 1,375 people used NOTA in Bilhaur seat with six candidates who failed to get votes even more than NOTA. Similarly, in Kidwai Nagar, five candidates could not touch the figure of 1,067 NOTA votes. NOTA was ahead of two independent candidates in
Arya Nagar
, where 547 used NOTA.
Likewise, in Bithoor too, three candidates failed to get votes more than NOTA used by 1,759.
In Sisamau, 664 people used NOTA, which was more than the votes polled by four Independent candidates. In Maharajpur, nine candidates could not touch the 1,372, the number of NOTA used here. In Ghatampur, five candidates were behind the 1,653 NOTA votes. And in Kalyanpur, four candidates could not cross the mark of 894 NOTA votes. In
Govind Nagar
, thare was only one candidate who failed to get vote more than NOTA used by 1,094 voters.
