Kanpur: Panki police arrested two persons in connection with the theft of around 108 metal leads worth nearly Rs 10 lakh from a factory located at Site Number-03 in the Industrial Area.
Police said a case was registered following a complaint regarding the theft from the factory premises. Based on the evidence collected, police arrested Shivam Kirar and Abhishek Kushwaha, both residents of Gwalior. During interrogation, police found that Shivam was employed as an operator at the factory and had allegedly carried out the theft in connivance with his associate.
Police recovered 108 stolen metal leads, estimated to be worth around Rs 10 lakh, from the possession of the accused.
According to police, the accused had planned to transport the stolen material to Gwalior and sell it at lower prices through local shops. However, police arrested them before the plan could be executed and recovered the stolen goods in time.
Police officials said efforts were underway to gather information regarding the possible involvement of other individuals in the case. Verification of the criminal history of the accused was also being conducted.
The arrested accused were produced before the court and further legal proceedings were being carried out, police said.
