KANPUR: At least two persons died while ten others sustained serious wounds following a collision between a traveler jeep and a roadways bus on the Kanpur-Lucknow highway under the Ajgain police station area of Unnao on Thursday morning.

The incident took place in front of a restaurant on the highway in the Nawabganj area of Unnao district.

All the individuals involved were residents of Madhya Pradesh, traveling to Chitrakoot after visiting Varanasi and Ayodhya following the Kumbh Mela.

The deceased include Suresh Tiwari (55), son of Kedar Nath Tiwari from Isagarh, Ashok Nagar, Madhya Pradesh, and Radha Vyas (35), wife of Kapil Byas from Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh.

The injured include Vimla Singh, wife of Vinod, Parmal Singh, son of Raju Nath Singh, Bhagwati, wife of Jagdish, Satish, Rani, Ansh, Anika, Omvati, Sushma Bhargav, and the driver, Shiva.

SP Unnao Deepak Bhuker stated that the police arrived immediately at the scene and transported all the injured to CHC Nawabganj.

"From there, the doctor referred 2 seriously injured individuals to the district hospital in Unnao, while the rest are being treated at CHC. The bodies of the deceased have been taken into custody and sent for post-mortem."
