170 kg of sandalwood seized

Kanpur: Panki police seized 170 kilograms of sandalwood being illegally transported to Transport Nagar. The wood was sent from Odisha to Babupurwa through a transport company in Panki.
A logistics company named Delivery Limited has a centre in Panki's Transport Nagar.
The company's security officer, Rahul Shukla, told TOI that a company from Odisha placed an order for delivery of a consignment in Bagahi, Babupurwa, Transport Nagar. During unloading, a packet tore open, releasing the scent of sandalwood. This led to opening of seven bundles to find sandalwood inside.
Shukla filed a report at the Panki police station. Panki inspector Manvendra Singh stated that a report was filed for sending sandalwood without a licence, and legal action is being taken.
