Jodhpur: Police arrested five persons on Thursday for robbing an employee of a departmental store of Rs 10 lakh on January 1 when he was going to deposit the cash collected from the stores at different locations from the city into bank. Swinging into action, police zeroed in on an employee of the store Arjun Prajapt and found through him that the robbery had been planned by an ex-employee of the store identified as Mukesh Meghwal, who along with five others, had accomplished this crime. “We have arrested five accused, Arjun Prajapat, Mukesh Meghwal, Harchand Meghwal, Bhagirath Sihag and Bheraram Godara, and are searching for Ram Niwas Meghwal and an aide of his,” said police.Police recovered Rs 3,20,000 from Sihag and Godara, who had provided support in their Bolero. The robbery had been planned by an ex-employee of the store, Mukesh Meghwal, along with five others. The arrested individuals are Arjun Prajapat, Mukesh Meghwal, Har chand Meghwal, Bhagirath Sihag, and Bheraram Godara. Police are also searching for Ram Niwas Meghwal and an accomplice of his. Rs 3,20,000 was recovered from Sihag and Godara.

Insider role: Bank employee helped gang deposit fake currency notes, say police

The investigation into the fake currency notes case has revealed that the notes were being deposited in a bank through a staffer who colluded with the gang for commission. The suspects were running a fake nursing home as a front for printing fake notes. The unani practitioner and his associates have been arrested for making and circulating fake notes. The fake currency was seized along with the complete setup for printing. The arrests were made after a tip-off about a delivery of fake notes at Akshardham Metro Station.

Two sentenced to five years imprisonment for robbing jewellery worth Rs 12 lakh

A sessions court in Mumbai has convicted and sentenced two men to five years rigorous imprisonment for wrongfully restraining and robbing two employees of a gold factory in 2014. The judge stated that such offenses are increasing and require deterrent punishment. The accused, Mubin Khan and Santosh Vichare, were found guilty based on oral evidence and recovery of the robbed gold jewelry. Another accused, Fuzail Khan, was sentenced to three years in jail for acquiring the stolen gold. Two other accomplices, Vidyut Sarkar and Mohamed Khan, are absconding. The judge directed the police to secure their presence and file a supplementary chargesheet.
