JODHPUR: At the fag end of the assembly session, the senior most legislator of the state Suryakanta Vyas has suddenly become active by launching an agitation against her own party board in South Municipal Corporation and the target is the mayor.
And the launch pad for this sudden activism is a dumping station in Pratap Nagar area. Demanding its shifting from the spot, Vyas sat on dharna on the spot with her supporters, which did not include any other party leader. These supporters not only shouted slogans, they also began singing religious hymns and blocked the road, which led to tiff with the commuters and intervention of the police. In support of her demand, Vyas said that the people of the area have been demanding since long to shift this dumping station, but nothing has happened.
"This dumping station has made the life of the people here a hell. Stink emanating from the piles of garbage has left the life of the people around miserable," said Vyas adding that she would not back off until this station is not shifted from here.
Though, there is no proposal for shifting this station from here, the Commissioner Utsav Kaushal has issued a tender of Rs 43 lakh for upgradation of this station.
