Jodhpur: In a rare case, Phalodi police is going to initiate the process to discharge and set free a person, who had been framed in a
drug smuggling case. Police, on Monday, arrested a drug peddler for planting opium in his house in order to frame him in the drug smuggling case. The accused, identified as Sunil Bishnoi made sure that the quantity of the drug planted was such that his target did not get a bail.
Interestingly, both the accused and victim were involved in drug dealing and the accused was promoted to frame him owing to trade rivalry. After placing the parcels of drugs in the open area of the premises of the house of his target, when he was out, he informed the police until the victim reached his house. Following the information, police reached the spot, recovered the drug parcels from the spot as described by the accused and arrested the victim under NDPS act. During the course of investigation, police suspected the facts of the case and concluded followed by the investigation that the victim had been framed in the case by Bishnoi, who was a drug peddler and had done similar acts earlier as well.
“Now we will proceed to get the victim discharged and freed from the judicial custody following the process under section 16 of Cr PC”, said SP (Phalodi) Hanuman Prasad.
Prasad said that one Manoj Kumar had been arrested on January 7 for keeping drugs at his house. Police had also seized opium weighing 3.5kg from his house and filed a case against him under NDPS act. "During the investigation, the matter was found suspicious and then changing the course of investigation, police got to Sunil Bishnoi, who during grilling admitted to have placed drug in Manoj’s house to frame him in the case,” said the incharge of the District Special Team Devaram Bishnoi.
Police have arrested Bishnoi, who would sell small pouches of drugs to students and other addicts in Phalodi. He learnt to have been engaged in planting drugs and informing police on earlier occasions also. Police have now been investigating all such cases and exploring his links in the trade.
