Jodhpur: In a horrific incident, a husband shot dead her wife at her shop in Phalodi on Sunday and fled from the spot. She was rushed to hospital but was declared brought dead. Police have launched a hunt for the husband.
According to the police, the incident took place on Sunday afternoon when the victim Anamika Bishnoi (33) was at her cosmetic shop, Nari Collection.
“Her husband Mahiram Bishnoi came to the shop at 12.15pm and shot her with a shotgun after a heated argument between them,” said ASP Saurabh Tiwari, adding that he left the spot after shooting his wife.
The incident came to notice when a neighbouring shop owner spotted her resting on the shop counter. “He called up her father, who rushed to the shop and took her to the hospital, where they learnt about her being hit by bullet. Police received the information from the hospital,” said Tiwari.
The bullet had hit her left chest and passed through her body leaving her dead. On checking the CCTV cameras at and around the shop, police identified the husband, who entered the shop and left the shop after some time. Tiwari said that a case has been filed against Mahiram and search has been initiated to apprehend him. The preliminary investigation has revealed that both husband and wife had been living separately as the wife had filed a case against husband and in-laws for domestic violence and dowry demand.
