Jodhpur: After battling for life for 11 days in hospital, 27-year-old Jagdish Suthar, who was riding a bike when he was hit by a vehicle in the carcade of Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat at BJS colony here, succumbed to his injures on Saturday.
Family members along with community members immediately sat on dharna at the hospital, refusing to accept the body until a compensation of Rs 1 crore and government job to the next of kin was given to them.
A community leader, Vasudev Suthar, who led the demonstration outside the hospital, said, “We have demanded a compensation of Rs 1 crore and a government job to the next of kin. We will not take the body until these demands are met.”
Police had seized the car involved in the accident following a complaint given by Suthar’s father. “We had filed the report against the driver,” said Mukta Pareek, SHO Mahamandir. He added that the driver was yet to be arrested as police had been waiting to record the victim’s statement.
