JODHPUR: Inordinate delay in updating the marks of practical tests and assignments of the first-year BSc in Nursing course for in-service students of IGNOU of the 2020 batch has been delaying the issuance of their degrees. These students have been awaiting update of their marks since December 2020, when they passed their first-year examination.
"We have been consistently pleading with the Government College of Nursing in Jaipur, which is the assigned study centre of IGNOU for the course and also the IGNOU's regional office, for updating our practical and assignment marks since 2021, but none of them have offered a decisive reply yet," said one of the students who works at AIIMS Jodhpur.
About a dozen in-service nursing students from AIIMS who pursued this course from IGNOU are bearing the brunt of this negligence as there is still no clarity when final degrees for the course would be issued. These marks should have been updated in December 2020 in the grade cards, but the affected students alleged that the IGNOU officials continue to delay the matter despite the students' repeated inquiries and requests. These students of the 2020 batch said they have appeared and passed all the three examinations of their degree course.
When contacted by TOI, college principal Jogendra Sharma said the marks have already been sent to the regional centre of IGNOU but are yet to be updated due to a "portal problem". "We have already sent the marks to IGNOU's regional centre in Jaipur, but they have some portal problem at their School of Health Science (SOHS) end. The marks will be updated as soon as the problem is resolved," said Sharma.
The affected students told TOI said that despite their adherence to the timeline of examinations and assignments, they are still suffering .
