Cops arrest owner of dogs that caused death of two schoolkids

Jodhpur: Police have arrested the owner of the dogs that chased two school children Friday afternoon leading them to run over nearby rail tracks where they were crushed by a goods train. A case was registered by the police against the owner Om Prakash Rathi under section 304A (causing death by negligence) on the complaint of the mothers of the deceased children.Both the children were cremated on Saturday amidst the presence of their family members, relatives and residents of the locality at the cremation ground.The Rajasthan State Human Rights Commission has taken cognizance of the matter and has directed the administration to take stern action against the dogs’ owner. The commission earlier sought reports on stray dogs from both the North and the South municipal corporations last year, which it never received. The commission has taken serious note of this negligence.Two school children, Ananya Kanwar (9) and Yuvraj Singh (11) had been run over by a goods train when they were running to escape the pet dogs on Friday afternoon while returning from their school. Both died on the spot, after which family members and neighbours had refused to accept the bodies until the dogs were caught by the corporation’s dog squad and a case was registered against the owner of the pet dogs.
