Man killed in Libya, police arrested travel agents

JIND: Crime investigation agency (CIA) has arrested a travel agent in connection with a murder case of a youth who was killed in Libya.

The accused has been identified as Devinder alias Kala, a native of Kaithal district. Earlier police have arrested Sispal alias Dhola of Jind, Naresh of Bhainswal village in Sonipat district and Piyush Gupta.

Deepak, hails from Loan village of Narwana town in Jind district had alleged on December 12, 2023 that his brother Vikash (27) left India for Italy through a medium of agents. But he was sent to Libya where he was killed there by some unknown miscreants. "We had paid Rs 42 lakh to agents who promised to send him to Italy through a proper channel but they made fraud with us. We were duped by agents and lost money and my brother. A strict action should be taken against the accused," Deepak alleged.

After killing of Vikash in Libya, Jind SP formed a team led by Narwana CIA wing of Haryana police. CIA incharge Sukhdev Singh probed the matter and made arrest of four persons in this case so far, said a police spokesperson of Jind police.

Police lodged a case under section 420 (Whoever cheats and thereby dishonestly induces the person deceived any property to any person) 406 (Whoever commits criminal breach of trust shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine, or with both), 370 (trafficking of a person) 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of IPC, Said Sukhdev Singh, CIA incharge.

The accused was produced in local court which sent him two days police custody. The entire incident would be unearthed during the remand, said police spokesperson.
