Jamshedpur: A 38-year-old lady, Sunita Devi was shot by a gang when she confronted the criminals at her house in Sharma line under Telco police station area in the wee hours on Saturday.
According to the information, four criminals barged into the house of Uday Sharma around 1 amand when his wife Sunita Devi protested, they shot her. Sunita Devi had shouted to wake the other members before she was shot.
The family members woke up and thrashed the two attackers, Chandan Ghosh and Bitu Singh before handing them over to the TMH.
The police rushed the wounded lady to TMH where she succumbed to her injuries. The wounded thieves were admitted to TMH for treatment.
Sunita Devi's 15-year-old son Abhay Kumar, who also sustained injuries when he tried to save his mother, is recuperating in the same hospital.
Police said, a few days ago Uday had threatened the gang about calling the police if he notices them robbing diesel and battery from commercial vehicles.
"Search operation is underway to arrest the remaining criminals," said Telco police station in-charge, Karunanad Ram.
