LGBT rally in Jamshedpur, Ranchi to condemn Florida attack

Members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual (LGBT) community will soon organize a candlelight march in Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Hazaribag, Ranchi and Chaibasa to condemn the Florida mass shooting, where a gunman killed at least 50 people and injured 53- making it the worst terror attack in the United States since 9/11.

Jamshedpur: Members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual (LGBT) community will soon organize a candlelight march in Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Hazaribag, Ranchi and Chaibasa to condemn the Florida mass shooting, where a gunman killed at least 50 people and injured 53- making it the worst terror attack in the United States since 9/11.
"Members of the LGBT community were targeted for not fault of theirs," said Shubhkamna Foundation state secretary, Sanjana Kinnar.

The Foundation, which works towards empowering transgenders in the state, appealed to members of the LGBT community to condemn the attack in Orlando, Florida by joining the protest.
"News reports state that between 1973 and 2013, there have been around four attacks against the LGBT community" said Sanjana. Another Foundation member, Babli, said, "We have convened an urgent meeting tonight (June 13) to discuss details pertaining to the protest march. The venue and date will be finalized at the meet".
Sanjana Rai, a functionary of Swadha - a community-based organization working for the upliftment of transgenders - appealed to LGBT groups in the country to come together and protest against the mass shooting in Florida. "The community needs to stand together at this time," said Sanjana Roy.
