Jamshedpur: A few prominent cricketers, including Murli Vijay and K L Rahul, will be in the Steel City on Thursday to attend the marriage of fellow cricketer Varun Aaron.
The Indian pacer tied the knot with his childhood friend, Ragini, at a district court on Monday. A more formal ceremony will take place at Bistupur church on Thursday.
"Test cricketers K L Rahul and former Ranji player Tejashwi Yadav are already in the town.
Dhoni is also likely to attend the marriage," said a city-based cricketer and close aide of Aaron on condition of anonymity. He added that several Team India players that toured Australia recently have been invited to the wedding ceremony.
District police have made adequate security arrangements to ensure smooth movement of VIPs. Aaron, who is also the captain of Jharkhand's Ranji team, attended Loyola School with his wife.
On Wednesday, Aaron threw a cocktail party at Tube Makers club in Golmuri, which was attended by cricketers, politicians, government functionaries, corporate executives and state cricket association members.
Consequently, Aaron, who captains Jharkhand, will miss the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal against Mumbai to be held from February 3-7 in Bengaluru.
The 26-year-old has played nine Tests and nine ODIs for India since his international debut in 2011. He made an immediate impression with his pace but fitness issues and inconsistency have so far prevented the strapping speedster from cementing his place in the Indian team.
