JAMMU: A notorious criminal was detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Udhampur district of Jammu-Kashmir following the detention orders issued by the district magistrate, police said on Friday.
Police said, "Rakesh Kumar alias 'Raku' son of Laxman Dass a resident of Meer Mohra Sarothi in Panchari of Udhampur district, has become a great threat to public peace and tranquility, forcing the authorities to detain him under the administrative law."
"A number of cases are registered against Kumar, a notorious criminal, in Udhampur police station."
Police added that on the directions of Dr Vinod Kumar -IPS Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Udhampur, accused's dossiers for PSA were prepared and sent for necessary detention orders."
"After getting necessary approval, Rakesh Kumar @Raku was arrested by the team of Police Station Udhampur and was shifted to jail.
