Pakistan-made pills found on slain terrorists in J&K’s Kishtwar
JAMMU: Security forces have found a large cache of arms and Pakistan-made medicines on three Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists killed on Friday and Saturday in Chatroo forests of J&K’s Kishtwar district. Searches for more terrorists are still on, with the operation entering its fourth day on Sunday.
“Joint forces found 1 M4 Rifle, 2 AK 47 Rifles, 11 Magazines, 65 Bullets M4 and 56 bullets AK 47 along with caps, medicines, first aid material (Pak-made), socks and other assorted items on the three slain terrorists. On Friday, one terrorist was killed and on Saturday, two more were killed, including top Jaish commander Saifullah,” an official said.
Brigadier JBS Rathi, Commander of 5 Sector Assam Rifles, said forces were using UAVS and drones for real-time surveillance during the operations. “Until the terrorists are eliminated, the operations will go on. The people of the area have given full support to security forces,” Kishtwar DIG Shridhar Patil said.
This is not the first time that Pakistan-made medicines were found on slain terrorists in Jammu region. On June 12, 2024, such items were found on two terrorists killed in an encounter along the border near Hiranagar in Kathua district.
In Aug 2023, medicines of Pakistani origin were recovered from the scene of a gunfight in which two Pakistani terrorists were killed in Balakote sector of Poonch during an abortive infiltration attempt. Similar recoveries were made from the site where four Jaish terrorists were killed near Nagrota in Nov 2020.
Meanwhile, J&K lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha paid tributes on Sunday to Army and civilian warriors who had laid down their lives for liberation of Rajouri on this day in 1948 from Pakistan’s grip.
“Rajouri Day is a symbol of the invincible strength of the Indian Army and it reminds us that we will never allow our unity to be fragmented. This land of Rajouri is a witness to the resolve of our bravehearts,” Sinha said in Rajouri.
