Notorious bovine smuggler detained under Public Safety Act in J&K's Rajouri

JAMMU: A notorious bovine smuggler was detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Monday.


Police spoksperson from Rajouri stated that a "notorious bovine smuggler identified namely as Imran Ahmed, son of Shabir Ahmed resident of village Rajdhani in Tehsil Thanamandi Rajouri has been booked under Public Safety Act for smuggling bovines in an organised manner posing a threat to peace and order."

"The accused did not change his behaviour inspite of been booked in several FIRs and arrest by police in these cases but he continued his illegal and unlawful act of smuggling bovines and such activities are likely to disturb public order particularly in Rajouri District, police said.

According to police spokesperson, cases in which the accused has been booked earlier include FIR No. 71/2018 of Police Station Dharamsal, 155/2019 of Police Station Akhnoor, 93/2020 of Police Station Nowshera, 129/2020 of Police Station Nowshera, 171/2020 of Police Station Thanamandi and 117/2021 of Police Station Nowshera.

"Keeping in view the activities of aforesaid accused as these amounts to propagating and creating feelings of enmity, hatred among communities, thus accused was ordered to be detained under Section-8 of Public Safety Act (PSA) and has been lodged in jail.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajouri, Amritpal Singh said that action against notorious criminal is being taken in the district and is among top priorities of police which aims not only to take stringent action as per law of land against notorious criminal but it is also a preventive step towards maintenance of peace and order.
