JAMMU: The cyber police of
Jammu on Wednesday said that it has arrested a woman from Ludhiana in Punjab for her alleged involvement in Rs 34 lakh ‘pension fraud case.
Superintendent of police (SP), Cyber Cell, Naresh Singh said that the accused was identified as Daljit Kaur, a resident of
Sahnewal
town.
“A case under Section 66-D of the IT Act, and Section 420 of the IPC has been registered at Cyber Police Station in Jammu," he said.
The SP said that one Inder Pal Singh of State Bank Colony had lodged a complaint with the cyber police alleging that
he was duped by unknown fraudsters on the pretext of buying units of Canadian pension funds on the promise of good returns.
“ The complainant got trapped in the luring offer and consequently lost Rs 34 lakh in 36 consecutive bank transactions," the SP said.
“During the course of the investigation, police succeeded in identifying Daljit Kaur whose three bank accounts were being used to deposit Rs 24 lakh from the complainant's account.”
“The police team arrested the accused from Snehawal and seized two mobile phones, SIM cards, passbooks of eight banks and two ATM cards from her possession," the officer said.
