Jammu and Kashmir police has busted a Lashkar-e-Taiba terror module in Rajouri district and arrested three persons, who were tasked to carry out blasts in crowded places and target security vehicles and camps using twin mechanism explosive devices.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, deputy inspector general, Rajouri, Haseeb Mughal, said the module was busted after an investigation was launched following recovery of sophisticated improvised explosive devices (IEDs), having both pressure and timer mechanisms.
“The arrested accused revealed that these highly sophisticated, ready-to-use IEDs, with over 1,000 ball bearings, were smuggled from across the border to set off blasts at vulnerable places,” the DIG said.
The trio has been remanded in police custody till February 10 and their sustained questioning is on, he added. tnn
