JAIPUR: Officials from North Western Railway (NWR) said that young passengers prefer to travel on Jaipur-Udaipur Vande Bharat compared to other modes of transportation.
According to the data, on average 12% of passengers are in the age group of 25-34. Similarly, in the age group between 35-49 years, an average of 28% passengers prefer Vande Bharat Express over other modes of transport said officials. Overall, about 40% of the passengers are young and working class. This age group has become the largest among all age groups of passengers travelling on Vande Bharat. Around 10% of all passengers on this route are senior citizens.
“Due to the fast connectivity between the major tourist destination of Rajasthan, Udaipur and the state capital Jaipur, the passengers traveling for tourism, employment, business, education and medical purposes have benefited a lot from the Udaipur-Jaipur-Udaipur Vande Bharat train. There is a lot of excitement about the journey especially between the 25-49 age group,” said officials from NWR.
Officials further said that according to transport industry estimates, with the introduction of Vande Bharat on the Udaipur-Jaipur-Udaipur route in the last few months, “there has been a significant decline in airfares in these sectors by almost 10%-20% compared to what it was in April.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the third Vande Bharat Express train of Rajasthan between Udaipur-Jaipur on September 24.
The train runs six days a week, except for Tuesday, and covers a distance of distance of 435 kms in six hours, with stoppages at Ranapratapnagar, Mavli, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, Vijaynagar, Ajmer and Kishangarh stations on the route.

The train will have 16 coaches, including AC 3-tier, AC 2-tier, and First AC, with a total capacity of 823 berths. The Chairman of BEML, Shantanu Roy, believes that the Vande Bharat project presents a huge opportunity, with the potential for 800 train sets by 2030, amounting to more than Rs 1.5 lakh crore in revenue.
