The protesting women burnt the posters of the movie and demanded to immediately ban its release for allegedly depicting Padmavati’s character and personality with distortion and false historical facts.

A large number of Rajput women under the aegis of Rashtriya Karni Sena on Sunday assembled at Shri Asha Mata Mandir near Dussehra Mela ground in Kota. Waving swords in their hands, they raised slogans against film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and actress Deepika Padukone. The women demanded that the state and Central governments immediately ban the release of the movie that misrepresents Rajput culture and tradition with distorted historical facts.

Kota district president of Shri Rashtriya Karni Sena, Rashmi Rathod said historical facts in the movie have been distorted and misrepresented and that cannot be tolerated. State general secretary Nena Chapol said Sena would soon initiate mass signature campaign in Kota city against the movie with the demand to ban its release and send the signed papers to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and to let him know the public sentiments on the controversial film.

The Rajput women also burnt the film’s poster showing Deepika Padukone.

“Rajput culture and traditions have been misrepresented in the movie and Rajput women can no longer tolerate it,” said Madhu Kanwar Hada, Kota city president, Rashtriya Karni Sena and ward member from Kota Municipal Corporation. Rani Padmavati is the symbol of integrity of character and personality, not only of Rajput women but also in women of Indian society, she said. The protest by Rajput women would further intensify if their demands are not met and release of the film is not banned immediately.

State vice-president of Shri Rashtriya Karni Sena, Manjeet Singh Nathawat, Meenu Shekhawat, Nishu Hada, Neha Hada, Heena Hada, Menakashi Nathawat and several other women were part of the protest.
