Woman SHO killed after speeding car rams into jeep in Sriganganagar
Jaipur: A station house officer (SHO) in Sriganganagar was killed after a speeding car rammed into a police jeep in the early hours of Wednesday, overturning the vehicle in a severe collision. Sriganganagar SP Amrita Duhan said Jyoti Nayak, SHO of the district's women's police station, was travelling with her team in a police jeep when the crash occurred around 4am at the intersection on Payal Theatre Road. Police said a speeding car hit their jeep with force, flipping the police vehicle onto its side. The car stopped a few metres ahead after the impact. Nayak sustained critical head injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, where she died, officers said. In addition to Nayak, another police officer in the jeep sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment. The driver of the car involved in the crash also suffered injuries and is under medical care. Senior officers, including Duhan, reached the accident site and the hospita. Nayak was cremated with state honours later in the day. Colleagues described her as a dedicated officer who was on duty at the time of the accident. tnn
