: A leading doctor’s wife burnt alive her husband’s 25-year-old live-in partner and the latter’s six-year-old son in Bharatpur on Wednesday.
The police have detained doctor
Sandeep Gupta’s wife Seema Gupta and his mother for the
murder. According to DIG (Bharatpur) Lakshman Gaur, Seema has admitted to her crime. The charred bodies of Deepa Devi and her son Surya were recovered from their house in the Surya Nagar-located house which sparked
widespread panic
in the locality. Initially, the cops had suspected deaths due to accidental fire, however, a closer examination revealed foul play following which Bharatpur police quizzed Deepa’s relatives and learnt that she allegedly had an illicit relationship with a doctor.
“Deep earlier worked as a receptionist at the doctor’s hospital. Later, he helped her set-up a beauty parlour and find an accommodation,” Gaur said. After Seema learnt that her husband was involved with Deepa, she and her mother-in-law plotted the crime. “The accused sprayed flammable chemicals on Deepa and her son’s clothes, set them on fire and locked the door from outside,” an official said.
