JODHPUR: To maintain a proper record of the Waqf properties in the state and keep them free from encroachments, the government is set to carry out videography of these properties for their physical verification and condition.
In the first phase, 3,945 such properties will be covered in the district headquarters. The following phases will include properties at the panchayat level.

Waqf, rural and panchayati raj minister Amin Khan announced the initiative during his visit to Jodhpur on Friday.
Of the 22,100 waqf properties in the state, a survey of 21,735 properties has already been carried out. Expressing concern over the increasing encroachments on these properties, the minister said the government is trying to check it with the help of the local administration.
Chairperson of Waqf Board, Liyakat Ali said efforts should be directed towards increasing the revenue of the Waqf properties. "We are also working to keep the records updated. The government has also for the first time provided grants to the board to maintain these properties," Ali said.
Principal secretary, Rohit R. Brandon said the minority department under the Centre has chalked out an ambitious scheme for the computerization of the Waqf boards. A state-level coordination committee has been formed to ensure a smooth execution of the process. Following its completion, a website will also be launched.
