UP youth hangs self in Kota after dad refuses to let him take up job

KOTA: Disturbed at not being allowed by his father to take up some private job, a 20-year-old youth from Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh, doing self-study for competitive exams for a government job, hanged himself from a ceiling fan at his rented house in Kota on Wednesday. The deceased, Tanveer Khan, was staying with his sister and father, who is a chemistry teacher at a coaching institute, at Krishna Vihar Colony in Kunhari area.

DSP Khiv Singh Rathore said no suicide note was recovered from Tanveer's room. The body was handed over to the family after autopsy and a case had been filed under Section 174 of CrPC. Tanveer was preparing for competitive exams, but had not enrolled in any coaching institute in the city, Rathore said.

The DSP clarified that the deceased was not aspiring to crack NEET or JEE.

Sub-inspector Naval Kishore of Kunhari police station said the family informed cops that Tanveer was recently offered some private job with a good package, but his father did not allow him to join, and insisted that he continue his preparations for competitive exams to get a government job.
