KOTA:
Two women were buried alive
in the
debris
after a
two-storied building collapsed
late on Monday in
Vasundhara Vihar Colony
under
Borekheda police station
in Kota. The bodies were recovered late last night from the debris and handed over to family members after post-mortem on Tuesday morning.
“A two-storied residential building owned by one Padam Kumar Jain in Vasundhara Vihar Colony collapsed around 7pm on Monday,” said SHO, Borekheda police station, Phralad.
The deceased were identified as Chandra Kala Jain (52), and her housemaid Santosh Mali (45).
The rescue operation was immediately initiated.
Senior police and district administration officials also reached the spot, the SHO said.
“Chandra Kala’s body was recovered around 8pm while Santosh’s body was recovered around 11pm on Monday,” the SHO said.
About 40 personnel along with JCB machines were pressed in the rescue operation, which concluded around Monday midnight.
The bodies were handed over to family members after post-mortem on Tuesday morning and a case under Section 174 of CrPC was lodged.
Further investigation in the matter is on, the SHO said.
The reason behind the collapse of the building is yet to be ascertained, he added.
