JAISALMER: The last two coaches of the Jaisalmer-Jodhpur express derailed near Ashapura railway station early on Saturday. There has been no loss of life but information on injuries sustained by passengers is not yet available. An accident relief train has been sent on the spot and the railways has opened a helpline number 1072 to provide help to all those concerned.

Due to the incident, rail traffic on the Jodhpur-Pokhran route remained affected. At present, the trains heading for Jodhpur are directed through a bypass as the damaged rail route is being repaired.
Jodpur rail division DRM Rajiv Sharma said on Friday night, train bearing number 14810 left Jodhpur for Jaisalmer and around 4am on Saturday, the last two coaches of the train derailed near Ashapura railway station. He said there has been no loss of life and damage to property.
He said after the incident, passengers of the Pokhran-Jaisalmer-Delhi intercity were asked to get down at Ramdeora and Gomat and were sent to Pokhran by another train. Passengers of last the two coaches that derailed were shifted to other coaches and the train resumed its journey to Jaisalmer.
Sharma said the traffic between Pokhran and Jaisalmer will get normal soon.
