JAIPUR: Road rage claimed another life on Friday. A 23-year-old

was mowed down by a speeding truck on the 200-feet bypass at

Ajmer Road

. His father was injured in the accident.

According to police, Rishab Jain was headed to Muhana Mandi on his bike with his father Rajeev. A speeding truck hit their bike and ran over Rishab. “The driver abandoned the truck and fled from the spot. We are making efforts to arrest the accused,” added an officer. The police told TOI that Rishab was killed on the spot, while Rajeev’s condition is now stable.

The particular stretch is notorious for fatal accidents. Among the list of issues that plague this place is the long BRTS corridor which is used by all vehicles, including bikes and cars. Taxis and cars are parked dangerously close to the road, and one part of the service lane is occupied by vendors who have set up their carts on the pavement itself.

The trucks and cars speed on the road and rarely care to stop at the traffic stop. “Even on Friday, the accident took place because there was a complete chaos and the truck driver ran over the bike driver,” said the official.
