JAIPUR: Taking a strong stand against a truck driver who had parked his vehicle on the railway tracks near the yard of Rewari railway station, North Western Railway (NWR) booked the man for trespassing and other sections under the Railways Act. The accused was sent to judicial custody on Saturday.
According to the authorities of NWR, the driver identified as Mahendra Singh deliberately parked his truck on the railway tracks near the yard of the Rewari railway station on Friday.
"Though the railway station falls in Haryana it comes under the Jaipur division of NWR. The officials told him to remove his truck but it was stuck on the tracks thus halting rail traffic on the Jaipur-Delhi rail route between Alwar-Delhi," said a senior officer of NWR on Saturday.
Once the truck was removed from the tracks, the authorities, taking strong action, booked the accused under stringent sections of the Railways Act. "We had produced him in a court in Rewari and was sent to the judicial custody. The medical examination also suggested that the man was under inebriated condition," said an officer.
Railway authorities said that any act to affect the rail route can led to a punishment of rigrious imprisonment upto 5 years or Rs 2000 fine or both.
"The investigation of the matter is been done by the railway protection force(RPF) as this act has caused heavy revenue loss to the railways. At least 8 passenger trains and 15 goods trains were affected due to this," said a senior office.
