JAIPUR: The officials of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Wednesday made a presentation to the traffic department on traffic diversions near Metro sites.
As there is a huge traffic congestion during peak hours, the officials have asked the department to stop the traffic completely at some places. "There will be heavy machines working on the sites and it will be risky for commuters plying on the roads.
As there is less space, we have suggested the department to stop traffic near the sites," said an official.
DMRC wants traffic to be stopped from Civil Lines junction to Ajmer Road. As Sindhi Camp has a huge traffic flow at day time, it has been suggested to stop traffic near Banastali Marg near Sindhi Camp. It has also been suggested to stop traffic flow near Khasa Khoti circle. "Many metro machines will be brought to these sites. We have requested to stop the traffic on some construction sites at nights," said an official.
With less space on the either side of roads because of barricades, the DMRC has also suggested that some roads should be declared no-parking zone. The areas which have been suggested for no-parking zone are Ajmer Road to Sodala, Gujjar Ki Thadi to Sodala, Khasa Khoti to Sindhi Camp.
It has also been suggested that Sanjay Nagar police station shall be shifted early instead of in September, as planned earlier. The metro officials have also sought a diversion on Ajmer Road and Gopalpura bypass.
