Tout took Rs 25,000 each from TTE aspirants

The tout, Jai Shankar, who is allegedly involved in railway recruitment scam has told interrogators that he used to take Rs 25,000 from every aspirant for the ticket collector's (TTE) post in Indian Railways.

JAIPUR: The tout, Jai Shankar, who is allegedly involved in railway recruitment scam and was arrested by CBI's Jaipur branch from Delhi, has told interrogators that he used to take Rs 25,000 from every aspirant for the ticket collector's (TTE) post in Indian Railways. The racket was allegedly active for the past two years.
Jai Shankar and two other arrested aspirants were brought to Jaipur on transit remand and produced in a local court here which sent them to two-day police custody.

The CBI has recovered some cheques and demand drafts' from the possession of Jai Shankar. The CBI is trying to gather evidence against some railway officers in Delhi who were involved in the racket.
The CBI had busted an alleged railway recruitment racket operating in Rajasthan, Delhi, West Bengal and Bihar on Friday. The CBI team arrested Jai Shankar, a rifleman in the 11 Rajasthan Rifles of Indian Army in Delhi, on Friday and claimed that top officials of the railway department in Delhi were also involved in the racket.
CBI had arrested two aspirants for the ticket collectors' posts Bhagwana Ram Chaudhary and Shri Narayan Ram Chaudhary, residents of Jantipura village in Jodhpur district from the Jodhpur-Delhi Mandore Express on Thursday night and recovered Rs 6 lakh from their possession.
"Jai Shankar was brought to Jaipur from Delhi on a transit remand and was produced in a court here. Jai Shankar and the two aspirants have been sent to two-day police custody," said a CBI officer.
He added that to nab other members of the rackets, teams have been sent to other states including Delhi, Bihar and UP. The CBI has also identified the officials who were taking bribe from the aspirants to get the selected in the railway.
"The officials have been identified, but we are gathering evidence against them after which they will be nabbed. A team in Delhi is working on many leads that we came across during interrogation with the arrested persons," the officer added.
