Tourism curbs lifted in Barmer, Jaisalmer

In a boost to tourism, the home ministry has relaxed the protected area permit in certain areas along the Rajasthan border. The areas are in the districts of Barmer and Jaisalmer that are considered to have a high tourism potential.

NEW DELHI: In a boost to tourism, the home ministry has relaxed the protected area permit in certain areas along the Rajasthan border. The areas are in the districts of Barmer and Jaisalmer that are considered to have a high tourism potential.
In Barmer district, areas around Kiradu, 35 km from Barmer town, has been opened up for tourists. Areas around it like Marudi, Langera, Jasai, Danta, Anta and Hathma have been excluded from the PAP regime.

Similarly, Juna Patrasar, known for its Jain temples, has also been opened up along with the Marudi, Langera, Meethi, Beri and Juna Patrasar route.
In Jaisalmer district, Laxmanon Ki Basti and Turkon Ki Basti, known for its sand dunes, has been opened up for tourists. The destination is 53 km from Jaisalmer and can be accessed through the Jaisalmer-Amarsagar-Moolsagar-Damodara Sam-Loonon Ki Basti-Laxmanon Ki Basti-Turkon Ki Basti route as is Sudasari, 33 km from Jaisalmer.
The route for this area is through Jaisalmer-Amarsagar-Moolsagar-Damodara Sam-Ganga. The other route that can now be accessed by people are Hadda-Deva-Mohangarh.
